Blessings & Poetry

The Goddess

The Goddess whispers
knowledge in the wind

The Goddess screams
inspiration in the night

The Goddess tempts
the idle and the strong

The Goddess is the birds
when days are long

The Goddess is the light
rippling off the stream

The Goddess is the seed of faith
when you can only dream.

Of Herbs

A rose for love, as red as fire
Will kindle all your heart's desire

Upon the brow, sweet grass or sage
To gain the knowledge of the age

A pinch of basil, everyone knows
Will make sure that the money flows

Cinnamon is what to find
For good of health and good of mind

Something right for all that ails
Tea of mint will never fail

Needing guidance of your dreams?
Find mugwort herb for prophecy

If your cures cannot be found
You'll find they're growing in the ground

Abuse the poisons not, or see
The curse return to you times three

Blessed Mabon

Mary stood in her kitchen and sighed
"I'm pregnant with food for my family this year!"
And she spoke in great thanks
For abundance was clear

The Harvest was plenty
And fit for a King
She stood there in awe
Till the doorbell did ring

Mary was greeted at her front door
By a lady much bigger than she
"Greetings and blessings on this your good home!"
"Can I trouble you now for some tea?"

Mary, of course, had so many herbs
And she felt for this traveler with child
"Would you like Jasmine or Chamomile?'
"Round here they grow plenty and wild."

The two sat and drank tea
And spoke much of the season
Mary offered her bed
And asked not for a reason

And of blessings they spoke
For the harvest was great
Mary spoke many thanks
For the bread on her plate

Morning came quickly
Though the time felt so short
"I have to be going"
"To meet my consort"

"I thank you for everything"
"Mary, my friend"
"You shall surely be blessed"
"By the time this year ends"

This mysterious mother
Who Mary revered
Walked out the back doorway
And then disappeared

"'Tis strange and exciting!"
Mary confessed
"I know she means well"
"But I'm already blessed"

Triple Goddess

Maiden moon
Your light is shy
The first glimmer
Of the night sky

Upon the stars
You mingle well
Though green you are
We see your swell

Mother moon
I start to see
Your strength and radiance
Coming free

You blanket stars
And light the way
The wells of earth
Begin to sway

Crone moon
You go to rest
Though strength remains
All things see death

You let the stars
Shine away
And you return
On new moon day.

Harvest Queens

Hail the harvest queens
Dancing their ringlets
On dried autumn leaves

Hail the harvest queens
That nourish the many
And make room for new green

Hail the harvest queens
The flow of their dancing
Makes ripe fruit and beans

Hail the harvest queens
Who sprinkle their magic
In mum's recipes

Goodnight
(A Samhain blessing)

Father sun has gone to sleep
Covered by a blanket deep
Hibernating with the bear
Clad in fallen leaves to wear
Gone to rest his tired lights
Shorter days and longer nights

A Book Blessing

A book is a gift
That holds great treasures
Great knowledge
Great mysteries
And great truths
Let this book
Cast light
Where there are shadows
Let it heal
And let it bless
All who read it
And know the true spirit
Of the words written within
Let those who carry
Darkness in their hearts
Be blinded to the teachings
Written upon these pages
And let those who bear
The great light within
Be blessed with further power
Upon reading these words
For knowledge is power
And we must not feed
That which seeks to harm
May this book of light
Be protected, fed, and learned from
And passed through
The enlightened hands of many generations hereafter
Let all who hold the key
Feel peace, love, and laughter
Blessed be.

Blessed Midsummer
The feast is set for the day
A buffet of sun

Blessed Yuletide Feasts
The table is set for the eve
Buffet of moonlight

Autumn

The harvest is plenty
The north winds blow strong
All the colours of the spectrum
On tired branches long
And as far as the eyes
Can behold what it sees
Are bare bird's nests clinging
To the barest of trees
The dying speak loudly
Their last uttered sounds
The living are gathering
The last fruit from the grounds
For soon silence comes
And the light goes to rest
We must keep close for warmth
'Neath the moon's weeping crest
The harvest is plenty
The cool air is rich
And Samhain is coming
The day of the witch.

The Witch's ABC's

Athame in hand
Brow to the moon
Chanting a spell
Drawn with the rune
Evening has passed
Frail is the light
Goddess alive
Here working this rite
Isis, Diana
Juno, Fortuna
Kali, Ananna
Lilith, and Luna
Merry are met
No evil resides
Over the meadow
Playing the chimes
Quiet and still
Release the power
Sealing the spell
This magical hour
Under the sky
Veiled by the grain
Witches in circles
You take the gain.

Solstice Morn

A promise of light
Like dawn in the night
The sun takes the stage
Eternal in age
And whispers a tune
To his lady, the moon
Now days will grow long
And louder his song
The promise is kept
And we knew when he slept
That he would be born
On the cold Solstice morn.

Every Little Ray
(An Imbolg Blessing)

Hard earth, newborn King
Listen as the snowbirds sing
Glisten and glow, ever so
Brighter as you start to grow
Brighter, brighter
Getting lighter
Growing stronger
Lighting longer
Cold earth, newborn son
We celebrate the growing one
Growing, growing everyday
Know we honor every ray
Lighter, lighter
Earth's igniter
Gaining strength
Through winter's length
Resting earth, growing child
Though your light is ever mild
We look forward and we wait
For the life you will create.

I Am

I am the Lady, mother of the Lord, guardian of the night.
I am the Goddess, lover of the God, soul of intuition.
I am the Queen, bearer of water, keeper of the moon.

I am the Lord, son of the Lady, guardian of the sky.
I am the God, consort of the Goddess, soul of strength.
I am the King, master of fire, keeper of the sun.

I am the earth, guardian of the north, spirit of the lady.
I am the air, guardian of the east, spirit of invention.
I am the fire, guardian of the south, spirit of feelings.
I am the water, guardian of the west, spirit of intuition.

The Wheel Turns To Spring

The Wheel turns to spring
Slows down to breathe
Evaporate
Burst wide open
Mother melts
Cries
Sweats
Comes of age
It is a stirring
An escaping of winter's cocoon
And a long,
Beautiful stretch
After restful sleep
The Wheel turns to spring
